CVE-2026-109383 · GHSA-2m5v-pch6-74hx · published 27 Oct 2026

How serious is it

  • No exploit prediction (EPSS) score yet.
  • Not on the CISA list of exploited vulnerabilities.
  • No public exploit in Exploit-DB.

Is your app affected by CVE-2026-109383?

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Cursor or any AI coding tool: it runs a free Shippable scan of your project and fixes what it finds. Built with Lovable, Bolt or v0? Scan your live app. Or upload your package file.

Who is affected

  • undici (npm) >= 4.0.0, < 6.29.1
  • undici (npm) >= 7.0.0, < 7.30.1
  • undici (npm) >= 8.0.0, < 8.12.2

How to check

  1. Run npm ls undici in your project to see the installed version, including copies pulled in by other packages.
  2. Or paste your lockfile into the checker: it lists every package with a known vulnerability, this one included.
  3. Or run npx shippable-dev scan localhost:3000 in your project folder. It reads your lockfile and flags this vulnerability along with every other known one.

How to fix

Copies a prompt for Claude Code, Cursor or Codex: it checks your lockfiles for this and upgrades it.
  1. On >= 4.0.0, < 6.29.1: Upgrade undici to 6.29.1 or later, commit the lockfile and redeploy.
  2. On >= 7.0.0, < 7.30.1: Upgrade undici to 7.30.1 or later, commit the lockfile and redeploy.
  3. On >= 8.0.0, < 8.12.2: Upgrade undici to 8.12.2 or later, commit the lockfile and redeploy.
  4. If a vulnerable version was live, check your logs and rotate the secrets that server could read.

The advisory

### Impact undici's `Agent` passes its constructor options through a JSON-based deep clone (`JSON.parse(JSON.stringify(...))`) before forwarding them to each per-origin `Pool`. JSON cannot represent functions, so a caller-supplied `tls` option containing a `checkServerIdentity` callback is silently dropped before it reaches the TLS layer. As a result, a TLS peer whose certificate a custom `checkServerIdentity` was written to reject, but which passes Node's default hostname and chain checks, is silently accepted when the request is made through `Agent`. Because `Agent` is the default dispatcher behind `request`, `fetch`, and `setGlobalDispatcher`, this is the path most applications use. `EnvHttpProxyAgent` is also affected on its direct and `NO_PROXY` routes, which delegate to an internal `Agent`. Only applications that pass a function-valued `tls` option (such as a custom `checkServerIdentity` for certificate or public-key pinning) are affected. Passing the same options through `connect` is not affected. This is the `Agent` counterpart of the `BalancedPool` certificate validation bypass fixed in CVE-2026-84961. ### Patches Upgrade to undici `6.29.1`, `7.30.1`, or `8.12.2`. `Agent` now preserves the `tls` option outside the JSON clone, so custom TLS verification callbacks are forwarded to each origin unchanged. ### Workarounds Pass the TLS options through `connect` instead of `tls`. For proxied `EnvHttpProxyAgent` destinations, use `requestTls` / `proxyTls`.

Check your whole app

Dependencies are only half of it. Free and read-only: before you push, run npx shippable-dev scan localhost:3000 in your project folder, no account needed. For your live app, you prove it's yours with a one-line tag first.
